Rulantica is Europa-Park's water world, set at the edge of Rust in Germany's Black Forest, close to the French and Swiss borders. It sits directly opposite the Krønasår museum hotel and within easy reach of the main Europa-Park theme park, which makes it simple to fold into a short break. Arriving well is mostly a question of choosing between a car on the A5, a train to Ringsheim, or a flight into one of the airports ringing the border triangle.

Where Rulantica is in Rust

The water park stands on Roland-Mack-Ring in 77977 Rust, right beside the Europa-Park Resort complex and directly opposite the Krønasår hotel. Because the town has its own motorway junction and the resort's hotels and Silver Lake City are spread across the same area, the exact address matters more than the town name when you punch a destination into a satnav.

Think of the resort as a small district: Rulantica on one side, the theme park on the other, with themed hotels, caravaning pitches and the Silver Lake City accommodation area linked by shuttle bus. If you are staying overnight, your hotel determines whether you walk, take the free shuttle or drive.

Getting there by car: A5 exit 57b Rust

Driving is the most direct option, and the route is hard to miss. Take the A5 motorway to exit 57b Rust, and Rulantica appears just after you leave the motorway. Europa-Park gives Roland-Mack-Ring 1, 77977 Rust as the address for your GPS, plus the Plus Code 7P6R+93 Rust if your navigation app prefers that format.

Coming from France or Switzerland, the A5 corridor through Freiburg is the natural approach, with Rust signposted near Ringsheim. Traffic builds around the Europa-Park junctions on peak summer mornings and around Halloween, so build slack into the last 20 minutes of any drive.

Parking at Rulantica: rates and rules

Day visitors park in the Rulantica visitor car park, which costs a flat daily rate whether you stay an hour or the whole day. The same car park holds charging points for electric cars in row 10. Buy the parking ticket in the ticket shop before you travel rather than pulling a ticket from the barrier machines.

The parking ticket is dated, valid only on the selected day of your visit, and cannot be exchanged or refunded afterwards. Drive in, park, and use the code on the ticket to enter and exit; the code carries everything you need for the barrier. This dated structure is the single biggest reason to fix your Rulantica day before booking travel.

Camper vans, coaches, motorbikes and accessible bays

Camper vans and caravans pay a higher daily parking fee than cars, with entry allowed from 8am and departure required by 11pm for a day visit. Anything longer belongs at the Europa-Park Caravaning site, booked through the resort. Coaches park free of charge in the bays in front of the main car park, while motorbikes use dedicated spaces and collect a free exit ticket at the Rulantica cash desks.

Drivers with a valid disabled parking permit use the designated spaces in rows 7 and 8, and collect a free exit ticket from the ticket offices in the Rulantica lobby by showing the permit. Bicycles have free racks between the bus stops and the entrance. For a quick drop-off, the Kiss & Ride car park at the edge of the coach area allows a maximum of 30 minutes, which is enough to unload bags and children but not to park for the day.

Arriving by train and the Europa-Park & Rulantica bus

The nearest rail station for the resort is Ringsheim/Europa-Park on the Rhine valley line, served by Deutsche Bahn regional trains. From there, the Europa-Park & Rulantica bus connects the station to the resort, so you can travel by train without arranging a private transfer. Check the bus timetable for your arrival window, since it runs to a schedule rather than continuously.

A combi ticket bundling train travel and park entry is available through Rulantica's public transport partners. If you are coming from further afield, long-distance services such as the ECE Frankfurt to Milan stop in the region, which makes the resort reachable on a single rail itinerary from major German cities.

Arriving by plane: airports around Rulantica

Rulantica sits in the France-Germany-Switzerland border triangle, and Europa-Park lists road distances from a ring of airports. In Germany these include Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden at 39 miles, Stuttgart at 108 miles, Frankfurt at 149 miles, Black Forest Airport Lahr at 12 miles and Bodensee-Airport Friedrichshafen at 117 miles.

Across the borders, EuroAirport Basel is 55 miles away, Zürich is 115 miles and Strasbourg is 39 miles. Europa-Park notes that the closest hubs put you within roughly an hour of the water world, and points travellers toward partner shuttle firms or a rental car for the onward leg. Lahr's 12-mile distance makes it the shortest taxi or transfer of the group when flights line up.

Shuttle services from the airports can be booked through partner firms, and the resort recommends SIXT for car rental. If you are flying into Strasbourg, TGV services connect the city to Ringsheim/Europa-Park, giving a rail option from France as well as the road option.

Shuttles from Europa-Park hotels and Silver Lake City

Overnight guests at the Europa-Park Resort ride a free shuttle that loops between the themed hotels and Rulantica. It runs every 15 to 30 minutes, tightening to every 15 minutes when the water world opens in the morning and when it closes in the evening, so you are not left waiting at either end of the day.

The Rust Bus is a separate free service linking Silver Lake City with Rulantica every 30 minutes between 8am and 8pm. Use the Rust Bus if you are staying in the village-side accommodation; use the hotel shuttle if you are in one of the themed hotels. Hotel guests also park free in the car parks assigned to their accommodation.

Getting between Rulantica and Europa-Park

On a short break, most visitors split days between the theme park and the water world, and the two are close enough to combine without a car. The hotel shuttle and the local bus network cover the hop, and staying on site removes the need to re-park. Book your water world day for the middle or end of a break so tired legs get the gentler, warmer option.

For thrill-seekers, Rulantica's slides such as Svalgur Rytt and Vinter Rytt pair easily with a day at Europa-Park next door, but plan the water day around the outdoor areas. Svalgurok, Dynstrønd and Snorri Strand open from May to September, subject to weather, so a May-to-September visit gives you the full range.

Which arrival option suits your group

Families with young children usually get the smoothest day by driving or staying on site, because the Kiss & Ride drop-off, the 30-minute limit aside, keeps luggage and pushchairs simple, and the free hotel shuttle removes the need to hunt for parking twice. Couples on a city break often find the train and bus combination easiest, arriving at Ringsheim and riding the Europa-Park & Rulantica bus without touching a car.

Thrill-seekers arriving by air should weigh airport distance against flight availability: Lahr and Strasbourg are closest on paper, but Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Zürich carry far more routes. Build the transfer into the trip rather than treating it as an afterthought, and pre-book a shuttle or rental car when your flight lands late.

Rulantica ticket types and what each includes

Rulantica sells a ladder of tickets, and the right one depends on your arrival time as much as your budget. The day ticket covers 9.30am to 10pm, the evening ticket starts at 5pm and the Moonlight ticket at 7pm for a shorter, cheaper evening. The Hyggedal ticket adds the relaxation area, and the Best-Price ticket is sold in combination with an overnight stay at the resort.

Prices vary by date and ticket type, and the ranges quoted are valid for visits up to 19 March 2027. Book online rather than at the box office: Europa-Park says counter tickets are subject to availability and a surcharge. The Best-Price ticket is sold in combination with an overnight stay at the resort, and the adventure ticket includes access to the water world before the official park opening, so match the ticket to your accommodation and arrival time before you commit.

Events across the year that shape when you travel

Rulantica runs themed seasons that affect both atmosphere and demand, so align your travel with the one you want. The published windows include Nordlyfest from 19 January to 27 March 2026, Spring & summer from 30 March to 4 October 2026, Halloween from 26 September to 16 November 2026 and Vinterglanz from 28 November 2026 to 10 January 2027.

The standard pattern is 9.30am to 10pm daily with some exceptions, and the outdoor pools are warm enough for winter visits. If you are aiming at Halloween or the winter event, book accommodation and travel early, since resort hotels fill around those windows.

Plan Your Visit

Decide your route first and your ticket second: a car on the A5 exit 57b, a train to Ringsheim with the Europa-Park & Rulantica bus, or a flight into Lahr, Strasbourg or Basel all work, and the free hotel and Rust Bus shuttles cover the last hop. Pre-buy the dated parking ticket alongside your entry so the barrier code is ready when you arrive.

Build the day around the water: eat on site or check the picnic rules on Rulantica's pages, and treat the outdoor areas as a May-to-September bonus. If you are weighing a longer German park trip, the same planning logic applies to other parks such as how to get to Phantasialand in North Rhine-Westphalia.
