Heide Park Height Restrictions: Every Ride's Minimum Height

The quick version

Heide Park height limits for the Big 7 coasters and family rides, with age rules and tips on which attractions suit small children and taller riders.

Heide Park sits in Soltau, Lower Saxony, between Hamburg and Hanover, and its ride line-up runs from Peppa Pig Land flat rides to seven headline coasters. Each attraction carries its own boarding rules, and the big coasters combine a minimum height with a minimum age and a maximum height, so a tall child is not automatically cleared to ride.

The practical approach is to sort the park by height tier before you arrive, then build the day around the lowest rider in your group. Checking each coaster against your group's heights takes minutes and prevents the disappointment of queuing for a ride a child cannot board.

How height and age rules work together

At Heide Park, height is only part of the decision. On the Big 7 coasters Heide Park Resort publishes a height band with a lower limit and a 195 cm upper limit, alongside a minimum age that rises with the intensity of the ride. A tall ten-year-old may clear the height bar for Flug der Dämonen but still fall short of its 12-year age rule. For any recent changes to these limits before you book, check heide-park.de.

The age rules are not uniform: Colossos, KRAKE, Desert Race and Flug der Dämonen ask for older children, while Big Loop and Toxic Garden admit younger riders. Some rides publish an additional rule allowing children under ten to ride with an accompanying adult. Read both numbers before you promise a child a ride, because the gate staff check the stricter rule.

The maximum height of 195 cm applies to the Big 7 as listed by the park; it is not a park-wide ceiling, so do not assume it carries over to every family attraction.

Heide Park's Big 7 coasters: height and age limits

Colossos – Battle of the Giants, the park's landmark wooden coaster, requires riders to measure between 140 cm and 195 cm and to be at least 10 years old. KRAKE, Germany's first dive coaster, uses the same 140 cm to 195 cm band with a minimum age of 10.

Flug der Dämonen, the park's wing coaster, takes riders from 140 cm to 195 cm but sets the bar higher on age at 12 years. Desert Race, the catapult launch coaster, also runs a 140 cm to 195 cm band and asks for a minimum age of 10.

Big Loop is the most accessible of the seven on both counts, with a 120 cm to 195 cm band and a minimum age of 6, plus the allowance for under-tens to ride with an adult. Toxic Garden, the suspended looping coaster, sits between the tiers at 130 cm to 195 cm and a minimum age of 10.

Scream, the gyro drop tower, is not a coaster but belongs to the same thrill set: riders must measure 130 cm to 195 cm and be at least 10 years old. That makes it a useful first big drop for a tall ten-year-old who has already cleared the family coasters.

The 140 cm tier: coasters for the tallest riders

Four of the headline coasters — Colossos, KRAKE, Flug der Dämonen and Desert Race — share the 140 cm minimum, which puts them out of reach for most primary-school-age children. Plan this tier as the thrill-seeker block of the day, ridden while younger children are occupied elsewhere in the park. If you are comparing German parks, the Legoland Deutschland height restrictions show how a nearby park's ladder is organised.

Because these rides sit in different corners of the park, the Heide Park map is the tool for ordering them efficiently rather than criss-crossing the site.

Treat 140 cm as the threshold for a full coaster day. A child who measures just under it has Big Loop, Toxic Garden, Bobbahn and Mountain-Rafting as realistic substitutes, all covered in the sections below.

The 120-130 cm tier: family coasters and intermediate thrills

Big Loop opens the looping-coaster experience to riders from 120 cm, making it the natural first inversion for a confident child. Toxic Garden and Scream both start at 130 cm, so a child in that band can step up to a suspended coaster and a major drop tower before qualifying for the 140 cm group.

Bobbahn sits at the 120 cm tier, giving families a bob-run coaster as a gentler alternative to the Big 7, while Mountain-Rafting starts slightly lower at 110 cm. Breakdance, Ghostbusters 5D and Hicks Himmelsstürmer round out the 120 cm tier with flat rides and a dark ride.

For groups split across the 120 cm and 140 cm lines, the practical rhythm is to pair a 120 cm ride with a nearby 140 cm coaster and use rider swap so adults take turns.

Rides for children under 120 cm

Below 120 cm the park shifts to family and children's attractions. La Ola and Screamie both start at 100 cm, Indy-Blitz and Raffnus & Taffnuss Wasserflieger at 95 cm, and Schorschs Dino-Abenteuer at 86 cm, which covers most preschoolers.

Peppa Pig Land is the obvious base for the youngest visitors, with Peppas Ballonfahrt, Peppas Bootsfahrt, Peppas Haus and the Peppa Meet & Greet listed without a minimum height. How to Train Your Dragon – The Island adds a themed area with rides such as Hicks Himmelsstürmer that older siblings can join at 120 cm.

Mountain-Rafting publishes a 110 cm minimum with an extra rule that riders aged five to eight need an adult with them, which is typical of how the park layers supervision onto height.

Rides with no minimum height and age-only rules

Several attractions are listed without a minimum height at all: the steam carousel, Drachengrotte, Floßfahrt, Heide Park Express, Käpt'ns Törn, the monorail, the nostalgic carousel, the Oldtimer circuit, Opa Pigs Zugfahrt, the panoramic train and the Wester windmill Ferris wheel. These form the backbone of a day with toddlers and grandparents together.

A second group applies an age rule without a height figure, such as Bounty from four years, Grobians Wolkenspringer and ToPiLauLa-Schlacht from three, Grottenblitz and Wildwasserbahn from four, and the Wüstenflitzer. At the gate, staff check the stated age, so bring a way to show a child's date of birth if the rule is tight.

Height and age rules at a glance

Sorted by minimum height, the ladder runs: no minimum for the carousels, trains, Ferris wheel and Peppa Pig Land attractions; 86 cm for Schorschs Dino-Abenteuer; 95 cm for Indy-Blitz and the water fliers; 100 cm for La Ola and Screamie; 110 cm for Mountain-Rafting; 120 cm for Big Loop, Bobbahn, Breakdance, Ghostbusters 5D, Hicks Himmelsstürmer and Magic; 130 cm for Scream and Toxic Garden; and 140 cm for Colossos, KRAKE, Flug der Dämonen and Desert Race.

On the Big 7 the maximum height is 195 cm, so unusually tall teenagers and adults should check the individual ride page before queueing. Ride-by-ride detail, including which tier suits which age, is collected in the Heide Park rides overview.

Who must accompany younger riders

Accompaniment rules sit alongside the height figures. Big Loop allows children under ten to ride with an accompanying adult, which means a six-year-old who meets the 120 cm minimum does not ride alone. On the taller coasters the published age floors of 10 or 12 already exclude younger children, so the adult-accompaniment question mostly concerns the mid-tier rides.

Rider swap lets one adult wait with a child while the other rides, then switch without rejoining the back of the queue, which is how families with a height gap get through the 140 cm coasters.

Health and accessibility restrictions on the big coasters

Sponsored

Every Big 7 coaster page carries the same health exclusions: pregnant riders and people with back or high blood pressure problems cannot ride, and riders with disabilities are excluded from the coaster set. Scream and Toxic Garden add cardiovascular conditions to the list. These rules apply regardless of height, so a rider who clears the bar can still be turned away.

Visitors with disabilities have a dedicated section on the Heide Park site covering access and the rides that can be used, which is the right place to plan around these exclusions.

Planning a day around your group's heights

Start the morning in the 140 cm tier while the park is calmest, then move to the family areas once the coaster group has had its fill. Families with mixed heights often split after the first hour: one adult takes the tall riders to Colossos and KRAKE, the other stays in Peppa Pig Land and How to Train Your Dragon – The Island.

Ride order and crowd patterns shift through the season, so the queue times guidance is worth reading before fixing a route.

If your group spans several tiers, a two-day visit lets one day focus on the coasters and the other on the children's areas without rushing either.

Express Ticket and the Big 7 coasters

The Heide Park Express Ticket covers all Big 7 coasters except Toxic Garden, so a queue-jump purchase buys faster access to Colossos, KRAKE, Big Loop, Scream, Flug der Dämonen and Desert Race but not the suspended looping coaster. It does not change any height or age rule; riders still have to clear the gate requirements.

For a family with one 140 cm rider and one younger child, buying Express for everyone rarely pays off, since the younger child will spend the time in the family areas instead.

Plan Your Visit

Height rules at Heide Park fall into clear tiers: 140 cm for the four biggest coasters, 130 cm for Scream and Toxic Garden, 120 cm for Big Loop and the mid-tier family rides, and progressively lower bars down to the no-minimum attractions for toddlers. Age floors of 6, 10 and 12 sit on top of those figures, and the 195 cm ceiling applies to the Big 7.

Day tickets, dated versus flexible entry and pass options are covered in the Heide Park tickets guide, which is the place to match your ticket to the days you actually plan to ride.

Live opening hours and planned ride closures are published on the park's own calendar and ride availability pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What height do you need to be for Colossos at Heide Park?

Riders must measure between 140 cm and 195 cm and be at least 10 years old. The same 140 cm band also applies to KRAKE, Flug der Dämonen and Desert Race, though Flug der Dämonen raises the age floor to 12.

How tall must you be for KRAKE, Desert Race and Flug der Dämonen?

All three use the 140 cm to 195 cm band. KRAKE and Desert Race ask for a minimum age of 10, while Flug der Dämonen requires riders to be at least 12.

What are the height requirements for Big Loop?

Big Loop is the most accessible of the Big 7 coasters, with a 120 cm to 195 cm band and a minimum age of 6. Children under ten may ride with an accompanying adult.

How tall do you need to be for Scream and Toxic Garden?

Both start at 130 cm and cap riders at 195 cm, with a minimum age of 10. Scream is a drop tower rather than a coaster, but it carries the same style of combined height and age rule.

Which Heide Park rides can small children go on?

Peppa Pig Land attractions such as Peppas Ballonfahrt and Peppas Haus, plus the carousels, Heide Park Express, monorail and Wester windmill Ferris wheel, are listed without a minimum height. Schorschs Dino-Abenteuer starts at 86 cm, Indy-Blitz at 95 cm and La Ola and Screamie at 100 cm.

Is there a maximum height at Heide Park?

The Big 7 coasters list an upper limit of 195 cm, so unusually tall riders should read the individual ride page before queueing. The family attractions generally do not publish a maximum.

Do children need an adult with them on Heide Park rides?

It depends on the ride. Big Loop allows children under ten to ride with an accompanying adult, and Mountain-Rafting asks for an adult with riders aged five to eight. Coasters with a minimum age of 10 or 12 exclude younger children outright.

Can you use the Express Ticket on the Big 7 coasters?

Yes, with one exception: the Express Ticket covers Colossos, KRAKE, Big Loop, Scream, Flug der Dämonen and Desert Race, but not Toxic Garden. Height and age rules still apply to every rider.
